We Are Marshall Review (DVD)

About?: In 1970 after a football game the team from Marshall University flies back home, the whole team get on the plane except for coach Red Dawson (Matthew Fox) . On the way home the plane crashes and everyone on the plane dieds. The school was going to suspend the football program, but with the help of most of the students they continue with the program with the new head coach Jack Lengyel (Matthew McConaughey).

My Thoughts: We Are Marshall is a great film. I enjoyed every minute of it. I think this is Matthew McConaughey's best performance to date, he does a great job, especially in the beginning were i thought he was really funny. The score was excellent from the times when they would be playing football they were playing drums from a band. Just like you would hear if you were at a real game which made you feel you were right there in the action. I thought We Are Marshall looked great too. There are times during the games were I thought the scenes looks gorgeous. I really enjoyed this film.

DVD Content: The DVD comes with in one disc and is presented in widescreen 2.35:1, with English Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo and a French 5.1 track. The special features include a "Legendary Coaches: How the Coaches Overcome Adversity" and a theatrical trailer. The features runs around 131 minutes.

DVD Thoughts: The DVD is pretty bare compared to some other DVD out but the Legendary Coaches feature was entertaining and its around 30 plus minutes. I would like to have seen some more extras but that not the case. So it hard to recommend the DVD.

Overall: We Are Marshal is a very good film. From start to finish it had me hooked the performances were stellar the cinematography was excellent and even up to the score. While the film section was good it did lack however on the extra features side I thought. All in All this is a great film and recommend this just for the features I give We Are Marshall a:

The Office "Dunder Mifflin Infinity" Review (TV)

About?: Ryan (B.J. Novak) comes back to the office but this time not as a temp but as Michael's boss. The whole office officially finds out about the "Jim and Pam" thing, Them dating. Michael goes on a quest to show everyone that technology is not the way to go with the company. We also lean about the future of Angela and Dwight and Ryan and Kelly.

My Thoughts: This weeks episode is funny as Ryan comes back to the office he tells them that Dunder Mifflin is starting use a website to talk with customer service and that the employees will be using blue tooth phones to communicate. Creed becomes suspicious and tell Michael that the business is getting all the old people of the office out of the way. The transformation of Creed is hilarious as well as the scenes with Angela and Dwight. The scene at the end with Michael's car was great I couldn't stop laughing it was great.

Overall: Again, The Office does a great job at entertaining you with another great episode with good acting from Steve Carell and great writing. The Office is just a good show all around with Dunder Mifflin Infinity and I give it a:
4 out of 5

30 Rock "SeinfeldVision" Review (TV)

About?: After coming back from the hiatus, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) comes back to work after the recent break up of her boyfriend to find that Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) is putting Seinfeld into every NBC show they are running without his consent. Tracy (Tracy Morgan) gets kicked out of his house and stays at the studio, while Jenna (Jane Krakowski) is back from Broadway after gaining weight by eating pizza during each show.

My Thoughts: This is the season premiere of the "award" winning best comedy series. With the return of Jerry Seinfeld to television, That alone demands a watching. This was a good episode to start the season off. The scenes with Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) and Seinfeld were hilarious I could not stop laughing it was funny. Seinfeld was good, he didn't have that much tv time thought I wished more. The episode was funny and the writing on this show is superb and I loved every minute of it.

Overall: 30 is one of my favorite shows, every single member of the cast does a great job and with Alec Baldwin, and Jerry Seinfeld on this episode, you can't go wrong. Lets just hope it continues throughout this season. I give 30 Rock's episode "SeinfeldVision" a:
4 out of 5

My Name Is Earl "The Gangs of Camden County" Review (TV)

About?: Earl this week meets with the Warden (Craig T. Nelson) and helps him break up the fighting between two of the gangs inside the prison in order to get certificate to shorten his time in jail. While Randy unsuccessful in getting to jail with Earl, he decides of another way of getting in.

My Thoughts : For some reason I didn't like this weeks Earl that much, maybe it the idea of Earl working for the warden just to get "certificates" for getting out of jail earlier. Also I didn't enjoy the way the Warden was scared when a person slams into the window, I didn't find that at all funny. Don't get me wrong some parts were funny like the reason for the fighting and I did like the end were Randy gets to be with Earl by being a guard.

Overall: This weeks episode for me didn't do it. I thought it was a weak episode and didn't like this "certificate" ideas of getting Earl out early. This is a big downgrade from last weeks episode. I give "The Gangs of Camden County" episode a:
2.5 out of 5

The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour Review (DVD)

About?: The Comedians of Comedy is a group of comedians who are doing stand up live at the Troubadour, the comedians consist of Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, Maraia Bamford, David Cross, Sarah Silverman, Blaine Capatch, Jon Benjamin, Jasper Redd, Andy Kindler, Morgan Murphy, Doug Benson, Dana Gold and Eugene Mirman.

My Thoughts: All the comedians bring different types of comedy and they are all funny. I enjoyed the stand up very much. I did wish they each all had a little more time to tell jokes, each comic got around 10 plus minutes to do their stand up, each had some good stuff. For me the ones that stood out were Brian Posehn, Blaine Capatch, Jasper Redd was good and Zach Galifianakis and I enjoyed. Sarah Silverman and Steve Agee song, that was good.

DVD Content: The DVD contains the feature stand up that runs for 135 minutes and is presented in 1.78.1 widescreen with 2.0 Dolby Stereo. The extras on the DVD include Behind-the-Scenes Footage, Never-Before-Seen Outtakes and Deleted Scenes, The Legendary Troubadour.

DVD Thoughts: The Behind the Scene is very short, around 2-3 minutes, and we get to see the transformation of Zach in to Seth Galifianakis. Most of the extras are about Patton Oswalt, one was about a Heckler and Patton Oswalt making fun of him. another, him telling a story and the last a joke about diet. Lastly short info about the history of the Troubadour. All the extras were way to short and I would have like to seen more of the backstage stuff.

Overall: The DVD of The Comedians of Comedy is solid on only the feature side the extra content were very short but still funny. I thought that the sets for each comedy was too short also but what they have were funny and entertaining. That is why I gave The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour a:
3.5 out of 5

The Office "Fun Run" Review (TV)

About?: Season Three Finale Recap, As the job Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is being interviewed for is here, in which it is his girlfriend Jan Levinsons (Melora Hardin) old job. Jim (John Krasinski) and his girlfriend Karen (Rashida Jones) are too in the running for the job but as Jim was being interviewed he realizes his feelings for Pam (Jenna Fischer) and finally asks her out on a date. As for the job, old Intern Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak) got the job. From here the new season of The Office starts. As Michael comes into work he hits a co-worker. This leads to Michael starting up a Fun Run to cure Rabies.

My Thoughts: As a fan of the old Office, I have also gotten to like the American version. Steve Carell is hilarious in every scene he's in. I would have never though I would laugh about rabies and this episode makes it possible. The main Pam and Jim question as well as Karen's was answered and I expected it to happen, Jim and Pam getting together.

Overall: "Fun Run" is a solid episode with a good amount of laughs and each of the characters get a good amount of screen time. This episode does have a answer to the whole Jim and Pam "thing" which was good. This episode, "Fun Run" is a good way of starting off the new season on a good note. I give this episode a:
4 out of 5

My Name Is Earl "My Name is Inmate 28301-016 Part 1 + 2" Review (TV)

About?: This is the season premiere of the third season of My Name is Earl. At the end of the second season Joys was being trailed for a crime she committed during the beginning of the season. As Joy (Jamie Pressly) is plead guilty and was about to go to jail was when Earl (Jason Lee) told the judge that he did this crime no Joy. Instead of Joy going to jail, Earl when to jail. The Third Season starts up as Earl is in jail. Earl tries to stay invisible so he doesn't get into trouble but while there Earl meets a childhood "friend" who is on his list (played by Ben Foster) and he wants to kill Earl because of what happened when they were kids. Earl tries to cross him off the list while not being stabbed. Another plot is what is happening with Randy (Ethan Suplee) about being lonely without Earl and Joy's guilt of Earl going to prison for her. So Earl has her take care of Randy awhile he's in prison.

My Thoughts: As we find out what is going to happen with Earl and his jail situation I was cautious about what direction they can push the show. At first I was really reluctant because I was thinking how will he work on his karma. Seeing the first episode of this season I really enjoyed this Ben Foster who is a guest staring as a man in jail who Earl wronged one time in his life. The story of this Karma was good I was very pleased. The scenes that were in the jail were entertaining but I thought that the scenes with Joy and Randy was bogging down the story a little bit and at time where boring.

Overall: This is a good and solid episode to start up the third season of My Name is Earl. My Name is Inmate 28301-016 Parts 1 and 2 still get some good laughs, that why I rated My Name is Earl a:
3.5 out of 5

Sarah Silverman Program: Season 1 Review (DVD)

About?: The Sarah Silverman Program doesn't necessary have a season story-line, which is a story that connects through a series of episodes and will most likely finish off the story at the end of the season. Rather there is a original story-line for each episode like one is about Sarah having AIDS and another about a beauty pageants, but they don't have a recurring story line. New Episodes, New Stories. It does have sort of a daily life of Sarah Silverman feel to the shows story each episode.

My Thoughts: The Sarah Silverman Program is a show that not a lot of viewers will like mostly because of the raunchy humor that is throughout each episode and the ones that do are fans of Sarah Silverman or Comedy Central or of this kind of humor. I think its a funny show, but some of the characters I can do with out and I do wish there were a lot more episode on the season. In most of the episodes I did feel like parts were dull but then would shined by the musical numbers in which I think is the best part of the show. Brain Posehn does bring a good bunch humor and great scenes throughout the season and I would have to say that he was my favorite character. The Show is a decent one to watch and will have some good laughs and can't wait for season 2.

DVD Content: The DVD of Sarah Silverman Program come on one disc with all 6 21 plus minute episodes of the first season and are presented in Full Screen and 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo. The Special Features on the DVD are Musical Performances, Karaoke Sing Along, Never-Before-Seen-Extras and Audio Commentary.

DVD Thoughts: The DVD is a solid piece of work, the video and audio is decent compare to most other television shows on DVD. The extras are good and they are a couple more musical performance, in my opinion I like her songs the most throughout the season and in her comedy acts and this a good addition. The Karaoke are OK if you would actually like to actually sing along with Sarah. The remaining extras are storyboards for the show. The DVD is a good buy its funny and the best of all its a low priced DVD.

Overall: The Sarah Silverman Program Season One is a good DVD, while its not the best comedy shows out there it is still a funny show and the DVD has a good deal of extras on it. This should be a buy. I gave the Sarah Silverman Program a :

Elizabeth (Spotlight Series) Review (DVD)

About?: Elizabeth is the story of the English Queen Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) through the political and religious turmoil around her in 1500s. As the sister of Elizabeth dies. Elizabeth is in turn to success as heir. Not everyone is happy about this, Elizabeth is a Protestant in a mainly Catholic based country. As she tries to bring the land to peace she is discarded by the Catholic church, all the bishops vote against her, in till with some help from Sir Francis Walsingham (Geoffrey Rush) she wins them over to her. While Elizabeth gains more and more support the Vatican gets more and more anxious about this situation. Elizabeth tries to make allies by marrying a French prince but she is torn to another love Lord Richard (Joseph Fiennes).

My Thoughts: Elizabeth is one of the films that you can watch and watch and still be amazed at all the great scenes, the costumes and the acting and always enjoy this film. The one thing I loved in Elizabeth was the sounds when people talk or just walk a little. You hear and echoing sound, that gives the scene of realism from the size of all the sets make you feel that you are there. Also with the echo it, to me at least, gives a me much more of interesting what they are saying because the echo can make an argument seem larger than it already is. I did wish there were more screen time with Sir Francis Walsingham I enjoyed his character very much. Elizabeth is a great film. It is truly one of the bests.

DVD Content: The DVD is presented in anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen and English Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The content that is on the DVD includes a Sneak Peek of Elizabeth: The Golden Age, A making of Feature, an Elizabeth Featurette. Also a Photo Gallery and Feature Commentary with the Director Shekhar Kapur.

DVD Thoughts: The audio is great the video is great also. Aside from the Sneak Peek at Elizabeth: The Golden Age which is about 5 minutes and 50 seconds long, a couple minutes more than the regular trailer, that's the only real new extra on this DVD with some of the extras that where on the past releases of Elizabeth. Those extras is stil al good solid group of DVD extras, but maybe they could have added a couple of new interview?, but the movie alone makes this a great DVD.

Overall: The writing, sound, visuals and acting are at the best caliber. I truly believe that this should have won Best Picture. Cate Blanchett acts in one of her best roles yet. And while seeing previews for the Golden Age film on the DVD, I can't wait to see the next chapter in this great story of Elizabeth. I give Elizabeth a:

Journeyman "Friendly Skies" Episode Review (TV)

About?: As Dan (Kevin McKidd) goes to the to the doctors to get an MRI to check top see if his "Traveling" is just in his mind. He and his wife travel on a plane where Dan again travels back in time. This time in the 70s on a plane where he sits next to a young woman who is giving birth. With no one there to help deliver he helps. With going back and forth through time he follows the mother and now daughter all the way up into the 90s to get the daughter to meet the father, while back in the present his wife Katie (Gretchen Egolf) is still unsure what is happening with her husband and his times of disappearing.

My Thoughts: After the pilot episode which I enjoyed very much last week the second episode, Friendly Skies, is no different.I enjoyed this episode. From the time where he goes back into the 70s on the plane and up in till the rest of the show it was a very good with still some questions that has not been answered like, with Dans ex Livia Beale (Moon Bloodgood) and whats happening with her, but the story with the daughter and her father was good with a good ending.

Overall: Journeyman has done it again. It has made another episode that I enjoyed very much. I have very high hopes for this show, It very good. While the ending of the second episode didn't go out with that much of a "bang" like the pilot I still that it was a very good. The development with Dan and it wife was very slow but was good, and still no answers about what his Ex is doing around Dan but non-the-less this is still a great show. With the sneak peak of next weeks episode about the 1989 earthquake I can't wait to see this again. I give this Episode a:

Ghost Whisperer: Season 2 (DVD)

About?: Ghost Whisperer is about a woman Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) who has a special thing about her, that thing seeing the dead. Melinda as used her gift for the better to help those souls/ghost to finish what business they have back on earth and with the living. She helps them have closure so they can cross over into the light. The second season starts off right where one left off with the loss of Melinda friend, Andrea (Aisha Tyler) and continues along with the regular scenes of finding ghost and helping them with an introduction with a couple of new characters, a realtor named Delia (Debra Manheim) and a professor of the paranormal Rick Payne (Jay Mohr). As the season progresses thing get more and more dangerous for Melinda and as the season ends the forces of good and evil collide.

My Thoughts: The Second season of Ghost Whisperer compared to the first season I thought was a much better improvement. As being very sad that one of my favorite characters of the show Andrea was now dead aka a ghost after the plane crash near Grandview at the end of the first season I was wonder what's going to happen now. As the season goes on we meet Delia and she fills the place of the friend on the show. The one thing that I've really enjoyed with this new season was the addition of the Professor Payne who I enjoy watching. The scenes he was in are great the actor Jay Mohr who plays the character great with the great dialogue with melinda especially towards the end of the season. Ghost Whisperer also tends to have those good touching moments when the spirits and the family/friends talk and eventually cross over. This is one of those show that I always look forward to each week.

DVD Content: Ghost Whisperer comes in 22 episodes on 6 discs and is presented in anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen. With English 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, and there's also a English 2.0 Dolby Stereo. The Extras are Four Audio Commentaries on Selected Episodes: Love Never Dies, Children Of Ghosts, The Collector, Mean Ghost. A Crystal Ball Game, and a group of featurettes one including conversations with the cast and crew of Ghost Whisperer and a feature of the make up of the show, another about the costumes of Melinda. A section of the back story's of the ghost featured in this season. The DVD also contains web episodes of a sort of spin off of the show (The Other Side) and with a trailer. Finally a Behind the scenes feature and an animated painting of Jennifer Love Hewitt.

DVD Thoughts: The DVD of Ghost Whisperer is pretty good compared to most of the TV on DVDs out there one featurette is around 24 minutes and the others are around 5 to 10 minutes each. The features really make the DVD experience worth wilded. If your a fan of the show you will find much of the features interesting like myself.

Overall: Through and through Ghost Whisperer is a well directed and has good acting as well as in the writing of the show. It is truly a great show on television. The story at times does get repetitive, but as the stories continues more and more they start to tell a better story of the Good versus Evil and comes down with the cliff hanger at the end of season two and now I'm very excited for the start of the third season. I'm giving Ghost Whisperer Season Two:
